Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.0 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Pāhala (pop. 1,400) located 11 miles from the epicenter, and Volcano Village (pop. 2,600) 16 miles away. In Honaunau-Napoopoo (pop. 2,600, 26 miles away), Mountain View (pop. 3,900, 27 miles away), Hawaiian Ocean View (pop. 4,400, 28 miles away), Captain Cook (pop. 3,400, 31 miles away), Hilo (pop. 43,300, 35 miles away), and Hawaiian Paradise Park (pop. 11,400, 36 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
