Petrinja and Sisak suffer significant damage, people in panic
Pictures on social media and local press show that Petrinja suffered significant damage at numerous buildings. It is also the closest town to the epicenter.
Croatia's Prime Minister Plenković is meeting with Ines Ivančić, head of the Seismological Service, and planning to visit the hardest-hit towns of Sisak and Petrinja soon.
The mayor of Petrinja, Darinko Dumbović, that the citizens of Petrinja are in panic and many of them are outside on the streets.
Some buildings are reported to have suffered severe damage, to the degree that it would be dangerous to stay inside. Bricks and tiles have fallen from the church and many houses. Videos from surveillance cameras show strong shaking in supermarkets etc, where most items fell off the shelves.

The central part of Croatia was hit by two strong earthquake this morning, first a magnitude 5.2 at 5:28 local time 15 km from Sisak town, followed by a strong aftershock of magnitude 4.8-5.0 an hour and half later, at 06:49 in the same area.
According to first information from local press, there are no reports of injuries or fatalities, but there is moderate, in some cases substantial damage at buildings and structures in Sisak town and other places near the epicenter.
Croatia's Civil Protection asks citizens to comply with the measures against Coronavirus in force to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection if they are forced to leave their homes due to the earthquake.

Austria 8422 Leibnitz (21.7 km WSW of epicenter) [Map] / Very weak shaking (MMI II) : We live in a very old house and the room Made cracking Noise and the lamps on seeling and side Board wete wiggeling  
Jankomir, City of Zagreb (47.8 km NNW of epicenter) [Map] / Light shaking (MMI IV) / 5-10 s : 1st quake woke us up. Roaring sound and vibration. Second quake similar with slight sideways motion. Shorter in duration.  
near Ivanic Grad, Zagrebačka (29.4 km N of epicenter) [Map] / Moderate shaking (MMI V) / rattling, vibrating / 5-10 s : 6 people in the house all woke up. Nothing broken but definitely alarmed. Windows still shaking seconds after initial shaking woke everyone I would actually put it between light and moderate shaking..  
Tatar Varoš (52.2 km SW of epicenter) [Map] / Light shaking (MMI IV) / rattling, vibrating / 5-10 s : Kurz vor 6:30 Uhr heute früh wurde ich durch ein lautes rumpeln, grummeln aus dem Schlaf gerissen. Geschirr, Gläser und Glasscheiben haben laut geklappert.

Maribor (134.3 km NNW of epicenter) [Map] / Weak shaking (MMI III) / rattling, vibrating / 5-10 s : Around 6.25 everything started shaking for 10sec, way too long to be just a bigger truck passing the house. Later on I got messages, if I am okay, meaning I was not the only one feeling it.  
Zagorje ob Savi, Slovenia (123.6 km NW of epicenter) [Map] / Light shaking (MMI IV) / 10-15 s : I was sleaping and the earthquake woke me up. I live in a 5th floor building. Everything that was not firmly placed, was swinging. At first I felt for very small amount of time than for much longer time.  
Koper, erjavceva ulica (195.7 km W of epicenter) [Map] / Weak shaking (MMI III) / 15-20 s : I was sleeping, woken up by shaking of bed and table. When i woke up, it lasted for 10seconds, so would say 20 all in all.
