An unique geological site in the valley of Sousaki near Agios Theodoros in Greece. An uplifting magma chamber has alternated sedimentary rocks and created some local vents of dacite near Loutraki town. (Photo: Tobias Schorr)
The area around Agios Theodoros and Loutraki is rich in signs of volcanism. There are probably magma chambers below the area. The last signs of volcanism are many small vents of dacite and andesite around Loutraki and the hydrothermal altered valley of Sousaki. (Photo: Tobias Schorr)
Photos of an excursion to the volcanic site of Sousaki with its strange geology. Even all rocks are alterated by volcanic fluids and gases, it is strange, that one can not really find typical volcanic rocks, like dacites or andesites. There are two caves with dangerous activity of gases like H2S, CO, CO2. (Photo: Tobias Schorr)
